Jack Roskind –
Having shot skeet professionally years ago and having began my shooting career with a Beretta 682EEL, I knew I wanted another Beretta for the field and sporting clays. Also if you are looking at the 30″ or 32″ models, stop, if you miss a target with a 28″ barrel, you are going to miss with a longer barrel. Do not spend the extra money for a longer barrel. After my purchase from Shoot Straight, I had a gunsmith disengage the auto safety due to still attending sporting clay events and add a second bead half between the break and the front bead. Again, this shotgun exceeded my expectations. The wood checkering and grain are in true style of Beretta and the scroll on the receiver is top notch and makes this shotgun stand-out but the real review is how well this shoots. I have already put a few thousand rounds through the barrels and exceeded my expectations for being light weight for the field or spending the day on sporting clays course. The 686 is lighter than my 682EELL (with Briley Tubes) and makes a great field gun choice. I highly recommend the Beretta 686.
